Profile : 

The Cement and Concrete Institute is the recognised authority in South Africa in the provision of technical advice, training and education in the area of cement and concrete technology.

They wish to appoint a Concrete Technology Consultant to be responsible for providing technical advice and guidance on cement and concrete related queries to contractors and consulting engineers etc.

This opportunity will be of interest to a person with a minimum of 10 years post graduate experience, ideally gained in the concrete construction industry, or the ready mixed concrete industry, or the concrete testing industry.

He, or she, will be responsible for receiving technical queries and for co-ordinating the investigation and response to these queries using internal Cement & Concrete Institute specialists and resources.

He, or she, will also be responsible for conducting investigations on construction sites and for compiling the necessary reports, conclusions and recommendations.

The Concrete Technology Consultant will have an in depth knowledge of SANS 50196-1 as well as SANS 17025 together with good exposure to other South African National Standards and Specifications relevant to the built environment.

He, or she, will be responsible for managing the auditing of SANS 50196-1 testing at all cement testing laboratories in South Africa and for managing other internal cement industry testing protocols.

In addition he, or she, will be responsible for reviewing internal Cement & Concrete Institute publications, written by others, as well as external technical reports, standards and specifications and for suggesting improvements to these documents.

The preparation and dissemination of written material to relevant technical journals and industry publications will form an important component of this function and the ideal applicant will have above average computer skills in MS-Word and MS-Excel as well as superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
