Profile :

The Cement and Concrete Institute is the recognized authority in South Africa in the provision of technical advice, training and education in the area of cement and concrete technology. This opportunity will be of interest to a Civil Engineer or Civil Engineering Technician or Technologist who has a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience with good exposure in the use, or manufacture, of concrete. He, or she, will be responsible for presenting lectures on all aspects of concrete and concrete technology to a wide range of students. This will include: • motivating and planning the development of existing and new courses and appointing external consultants as required • assisting lecturers at tertiary educational establishments with the development of undergraduate and postgraduate concrete related curricula and research programs • constantly monitoring the market for standard and special courses to determine the needs of the market and to identify opportunities to promote (market) the use of concrete generically • marketing the course with the assistance of the Marketing Manager and other SCT staff • monitoring all courses, obtaining feedback from candidates, lecturers and others and implementing appropriate corrections and changes • being familiar with accreditation requirements of the National Qualifications Framework, SAQA and CETA and assisting the E&T Manager with aspects regarding accreditation of the school • promoting the use of C&CI publications as prescribed material for undergraduate courses and “Fulton’s Concrete Technology” • managing the tertiary courses in terms of the goals set in the business plan and keeping expenditure within budget • managing all post course activities including follow-up action on feedback to maintain and improve the quality of the courses
